Federal Sign & Signal STH-10

STH-10s Original Installation Site Story:

This Federal Signal STH-10 was originally installed in Ellington, NY at the Ellington Fire Department, it was used as their main fire siren along with their 110V Sterling 2v8 siren which was used as a backup if the power was to go out. I believe in approximately December 2010, both sirens were removed when the fire dept got an electrical system upgrade done, since both sirens were dead, they purchased a Federal Signal Model 2 to replace both the STH-10 and Sterling 2v8. ColdWarCanada picked up the STH-10 and Sterling 2v8 until eventually selling the Sterling 2v8 to someone else and the STH-10 horns, stator, rotor, and hardware to me (Sirens & Thunderbolts 1003) and no motor since the motor was burned up and tossed for scrap.

Updates:

May 6, 2024

The stator, intake, and intake legs have been touched up to refresh the paint.

June 3, 2023

The siren is now complete and has a motor for it, It may not be a single-phase motor but it works perfectly! The siren uses a General Electric motor from an FS&S SD-10 that was missing a rotor.

May, 2023

I've decided that I wanted to paint 6 of the cones black and leave the other 6 yellow to make it a Bumble STH-10 and I painted the rotor black. All of this was done to prepare the siren for receiving a motor at SirenCon 2023 and get it put together to run for the first time in decades.
